Perhaps it was the knowing that there were would be hiccups to
the start of our third annual trip that made it seem much more fluid or maybe
it was the smaller group (only 6 White Swan students and 4 Heritage University students). Regardless, the start to the trip went as predicted
and we left Heritage University at about 1pm ready to face the 1500 mile/ 13
day- trip that will take us to three states, three tribes, several tributaries
and camping sites and one Big River.
6 White Swan students made the trip this year. From left to right: Chaylene, Chrissy, Judy, Tarrel, Alyssa and Sullyvan |
Our first destination: Deschutes Bridge Campground, Deschutes National Forest. The campground is same site we have attended the
last two years. It is a beautiful campground near the Deschutes River that is
nestled only a couple of miles from Blue Lagoon, the head of the Deschutes
River. Our late arrival to the camp coincided with a showing of rain that made
raising camp and tents a curious and damp experience.
